THE PRODUCTION COMPLEX «CHERNOBYL POWER STATION»
(Contract 1-U/96 dated March 11, 1996)

Denomination of services rendered: Upgrading of Chernobyl Power Station information network.

Date of the system launching: the first stage – February 1996.

Brief performance specifications of the System and the List of tasks fulfilled:

  • The main backbone line laying is completed – an optical fiber communication cable line was laid along the route: «Kvant» edifice – ABK1 – TSSHCHU (1st line) – SHCHSRK (2nd line); the data terminal optical fiber equipment is assembled;
  • There was completed the assembly of the distributive subsystem and the 5th category workplace subsystems on the base of a foil-clad twisted pair cable (FTP) in the «Kvant’s» building as well as in the ABK1;
  • The distributive subsystem and the 5th category workplace subsystems on the base of foil-clad twisted pair cable (FTP) were tested in the special operation conditions zone;
  • A network-forming equipment in the «Kvant’s» building and in the ABK1 was connected to the main backbone line (CISCO router and switchboard, Hewlett-Packard concentrators) as well as to the 2 Mbit-PCM highway at the «Kvant» automatic telephone system (ATS) (CISCO access server, RAD speed modems); an equipment tuning and adjustment is carried out;
  • A network-forming equipment (CISCO router) in Slavutich town has been connected to the ATS and the communication with the Chernobyl Power station via a 2 Mbit-PCM highway was provided. 300 new users were connected to the network with by providing a simultaneous access of all the clients of the existing Arcnet network towards it;
  • There was accomplished a link-up of remote local networks on the territory of the Chernobyl Power station («Ukryttya» and «Ostriv» objects) using communication lines allotted and the network-forming equipment (CISCO routers, «Motorola» modems);
  • Software tuning and adjustment for the network functioning control is completed;
  • At further stages it is planned to increase the number of users connected up to 400 – 500 units.

The basic equipment and software used while developing and installing the System

The hardware applied is manufactured by these companies: CISCO, Hewlett-Packard, Victron, Alcatel, IBM, RAD, Motorola.

The software installed: Novell ManageWise, CiscoWorks, HP Open View.

«The United Informational Calculations network of Slavutich town and the Chernobyl Power station designed and implemented by the INT is an indivisible organism consisting of hundreds of computing machines, communications, plastic cards, a distributed database and financial and accounting applications».
